A few more photos of Naples. Here are two of the many, very imposing, great entrance doors marking the entrance to homes of the rich and powerful - common practice from the 15th century right through to the mid twentieth.
Also I should include a castle photo - there are at least three in Naples. A rich port, it was often fought over.
Today we took a ferry to Ischia, an island not far from Capri. Even though only 33 miles from Naples, Ischia is a totally different vibe. Houses are the typical while of the Italian seaside. Shops are interesting, as Ischia gets well-heeled visitors all summer. The pace is slower.
Looking back at Naples. The large building is the Royal Palace.
