Lots of walking today, often in the rain. Mainly through forests, and a fair amount of up and down. So tonight, sore feet, knees and hips.
But we did have lovely meals. We made omelette for breakfast with last night’s focaccia. We arrived in Nemi in time for lunch. Chicken cutlet, pan fried potatoes and chicoria (fried with garlic, pepperoncini, anchovies and a lot of olive oil). And here in Velletri for supper home-made pasta with guanciale, onions, garlic, a tiny bit of tomato and a ton of olive oil. Plus a side dish of shaved pumpkin grilled over a wood fire with rosemary, salt and - you guessed it - more olive oil.
The village photo is of Nemi, high on a hill overlooking a small lake. The photo of water was taken at the start of our walk in Castle Gandolpho.
